The town prospered after being chosen by the royal family, in the XIII century, as a wedding gift from King Dinis to his wife, Queen Isabel.

The Monastery of Batalha, a masterpiece of Portuguese Gothic, combines various influences from its lengthy construction period, which lasted several reigns.

The Monastery of Santa Maria de Vitória, also called, was constructed in 1386 to keep a vow by Portuguese King Dom João I to the Virgin Mary. He promised that he would build such a monument if Portugal defeated Castile at the Battle of Aljubarrota on 14th August 1385, and it happened.

We will pick you up at your hotel if it is located in Lisbon or the surroundings. If not, we can agree on the way to do it.

The transfer to Obidos, the Batalha Monastery, and back to your hotel is included in this program using a dedicated van.

In the morning, you will spend some time walking in Obidos, admiring this charming hilltop village.

Lunch will be on your own, and it can be in Obidos or on the way to the Batalha Monastery.

At the Batalha Monastery, you will have a visit by your private guide, that will tell you about the fantastic events that led to the construction of this monument.

Return to your hotel.

Price: 450€ + monument entrances if applicable, up to  7 people – it is a full-day tour

Note: For VISA payments, an extra 5% over the Price will be added to cover the respective transaction fees.

What is included

  • Fully dedicated support van. To start the tour, we will meet you at your hotel, and at the end of the time, we will drop you off at the starting point.
  • Van transfers. You have all the transfers included in the Price for a 15Km/9,5mi radius from central Lisbon for a group of up to 7 people.
  • In the van, you will find water and a few snacks.

Not a problem. Proceed to your single reservation and inform us about your group tour. Share this day tour with your travel companions, and they will let us know if they want to join you in this program and share the Price with you.
