Évora, located 110 km east of Lisbon, is a convenient one-hour and a half drive away.
Boasting UNESCO World Heritage status, the city primarily preserves its old town center.
Also, Évora proudly participates in the Most Ancient European Towns Network.
This city, steeped in history dating back to Roman times, features well-preserved ruins at its heart, including the Roman temple and baths, both approximately 2000 years old.
Medieval history also influences the city’s landscape, with the Cathedral of Évora, a remarkable structure from the 12th and 13th centuries.
Did you know that near Évora stands a monument that predates Stonehenge by roughly 2000 years?
In addition to its captivating historical sites, Évora offers a culinary experience with renowned Alentejo cuisine.
The Alentejo region, located between Lisbon and the Algarve, boasts a distinctive and delectable gastronomy.
During your visit to Évora, you’ll have the opportunity to savor some of the finest Alentejo wines, considered among the best in Portugal.
If you’re fortunate, you may even explore the award-winning winery at Herdade do Freixo.
